What is the Disney Pixar Pals NFT Collection?
Pixar Animation Studios is an animation studio based in America, known for producing highly acclaimed family animation motion pictures.
The Pixar Pals collectible collection consists of an array of high-quality statues that look as realistic to the original characters as they could be made. The collection was created to celebrate and showcase the many archetypal characters the studio has produced over the years.
On Sunday, 13th March, the studio launched their NFT sale of this collection on the NFT collectibles marketplace, Veve. The collection contained 54,995 pieces in of their iconic and recognizable characters and moments, rendered in full colour.
The sales were done in the form of ‘blind boxes’ which meant that the buyer would not know exactly which collectible or rarity they purchased until the purchase is complete. This encourages collector culture and interaction between buyers on the market.
The collection was divided into four tiers of ‘common’, ‘uncommon’, ‘rare’, and ‘ultra rare’ with all three tiers at a floor price of 60 gems on Veve which converts to $60.
Pixar Characters Included in the Collection
The collection included a total of 54,995 pieces with those of rarity level ‘common’ being the majority and those of rarity ‘ultra rare’ making up a smaller percent. The collection includes a great many characters from Pixar’s long and impressive list of feature films.
The notable characters and moments included in the collection are the inspirational Sherrif Woody from Toy Story, fan favorite Mike Wazowski from Monsters University, charismatic Lightning McQueen from Cars, the house from the movie Up, fully decked with the balloons, and genius designer Edna Mode from The Incredibles.
Industries Incorporating NFTs
Pixar is not the only film studio to launch an NFT collection as Warner Bros also joined the trend with their DC Comics NFT collection. Many industries such as the music industry have shown interest and participation in NFTs, from artists to consumers to companies.
The Pixar Pals collection is already said to be selling on secondary markets for as high as 350 gems. Pixar’s collection was minted on the GoChain network which is known to be fast, efficient, and compatible with Ethereum.
