Highlights
- In collaboration with Ownix, FC Barcelona has created a new non-fungible token (NFT) collection to connect the club’s international fan base.
- The club’s 122-year history is sure to be featured in the new series since it has 95 local and international honors to its credit, including 26 national titles and five UEFA Champions Leagues.
- ONX, the platform’s native ERC-20 token, is expected to be used to facilitate the trading of digital assets when the marketplace launches in the final week of November, according to predictions.
Ownix CEO’s Answers An Important Question
Is it possible for Barcelona’s international fan base to have access to the NFT collection straight away, or will only certain groups, like season-ticket holders and other VIPs, get an early peek at the collection?
Guy Elhanani, the company’s founder and CEO of Ownix answered:
“Everyone who supports FC Barcelona everywhere in the world will be able to purchase items from our collection. There will be no restriction on the number of persons that may take part in the event.”
The Sport Industry Is Taking Advantage Of NFTs
Sports companies are taking advantage of the opportunity to interact with fans and supporters worldwide in a manner that is both financially and emotionally satisfying via the use of non-traditional marketing techniques (NFTs). A few firms making significant achievements in this emerging market are Socios, Dapper, and Sorare, who collaborate with some of the world’s most renowned professional sports leagues, teams, and athletes.
NFT Marketplace In Agreement With La Liga And German Bundesliga
Sorare, an Ethereum-based NFT marketplace, said earlier this month that it had reached agreements with the Spanish La Liga and the German Bundesliga to launch digital player cards and digital moments, respectively. Trading volumes on the platform have topped $170 million so far this year, and it is projected that they will more than triple before the year is over completely.
NFTs To Be Minted In Barcelona
The first five NFTs will be minted at FCB facilities and placed into circulation over the course of the next few weeks. “It is predicted that the platform would deliver NFTs for a few weeks after it is launched. Also available for purchase at a later date will be limited editions and sets of the artwork.”. Additionally, professional sports leagues are no longer opposed to NFTs, thanks to Dapper Labs, founded in 2012.
