Bored Ape Yacht Club is making its Hollywood debut with “The Degen Trilogy,” a year after beginning with a set of 10,000 NFTs.
The Degen Trilogy
Has the NFT line ever had a chance of becoming an established household name in the fashion industry? Doing their best, the Bored Ape Yacht Club and Coinbase announced that a trilogy of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) flicks will be released almost a year after debuting as a set of 10,000 NFTs. Coinbase’s NFT marketplace is expected to begin in June, and the first flicks will be included in the Coinbase NFT platform.
“The Degen Trilogy” is the name given to the film series made by Coinbase. According to crypto-speak, “degeners” are those that acquire cryptocurrencies without conducting any genuine study into what they’re getting into. Part one will be shown for the first time during the annual NFT conference in New York City, NFT NYC, from June 20 to 23.
An “amazing” team of filmmakers and writers is behind the picture, Coinbase states on the film’s website. They have done things previously, but we can’t reveal who or what they are just yet.
The Rise of BAYC, Owners and Fans Inclusion
The world’s most extensive NFT collection, BAYC, was created by Yuga Labs. Bored Ape NFTs, sold for $250 each, are now out of reach for anybody with a budget under $300,000. In the same way that a CEO may show off a new Rolex to customers and colleagues, the NFTs serve as status symbols for the crypto-rich on social media. People are ready to hang on to jpeg images worth half a million dollars because of the temptation of earning from links to well-connected crypto and NFT traders.

Fans may submit videos of their Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT animals for consideration as potential cast members. In addition, Coinbase is encouraging owners of the Bored Ape NFT to write a background for their character, which might appear in the movie one day. The $10,000 license fee will be paid in either Bitcoin or Yuga Labs’ own Ape Coin if the NFT is selected. However, NFT holders control the licensing rights to the particular Ape they possess (even if Yuga Lab owns the BAYC brand). A band has been formed, and Neil Strauss has written a Bored Ape book.)
This is only the beginning for BAYC. Many well-known people, like rapper Eminem, rapper Snoop Dogg, and basketball star Steph Curry, utilize the Bored Apes as their Twitter profile images. A million people tuned in to see Paris Hilton and Jimmy Fallon talk about their respective apes on “The Tonight Show,” despite highly criticized the conversation. Advertising giants like Adidas and Prada have gotten on board, and Rolling Stone even produced a special edition magazine with a Bored Ape as the cover star.
Coinbase’s Influence and Yuga Labs Plans
Whether or if NFT can become a household name is an essential open topic. Celebrities buying into the Bored Ape Yacht Club is another matter entirely. It’s a lot more challenging to get individuals interested in Bored Ape Yacht Club who are confused by NFTs.
At least, that’s the intention of Yuga Labs. There are efforts to move BAYC “off-chain” in addition to extending its “on-chain” footprint via Ape Coin and the Otherside metaverse in which the coin will be utilized. Yuga Labs and Superplastic have released ape figurines, a pop-up burger store debuted in California, and Animoca Games is developing a BAYC smartphone game.
Reese Witherspoon and her Hello Sunshine media firm are developing a film and television series based on the World of Women NFT collection in addition to Yuga Labs.
Coinbase, which will be producing the BAYC videos, is equally enthused about pushing the boundaries of NFT culture. In recent months, Coinbase has been promoting the establishment of its own NFT marketplace to compete with OpenSea, a prominent cryptocurrency exchange. As a result, you’ll need a Coinbase wallet to watch the Degen Trilogy, which will tie in with the platform’s debut.
