Bill Gates Spoke at a Climate Change Conference

Bill Gates, a tech billionaire, and the world’s fourth-richest person spoke at the TechCrunch Climate Change conference on Tuesday about the progress society has made in supporting the climate movement, his assessment of the current state of global economics, as well as his skepticism of nonfungible tokens. Gates is currently the world’s fourth-richest person (NFTs).
The volatile financial collapse of cryptocurrencies over the last few months has closely corresponded with the turbulent financial decline of the NFT market. Previously sought-after collections have seen value decreases ranging between 60 and 80 percent of their original levels. As a direct consequence of this development, cynical perspectives now predominate the narrative of the sector.
Bill Gates Condemns the Notion behind NFTs
During the course of the conversation, Bill Gates brought up the most popular collection on the market, which is known as the Bored Ape Yacht Club. He said sarcastically, “Obviously, pricey digital photos of monkeys are going to help the world greatly,” and added, “We all agree on that.”

“I’m accustomed to asset classes where they have output, like a farm or a corporation where they generate items, and those are what I’m familiar with. Having an asset class that is 100 percent based on the […] greater fool theory, which states that somebody is going to pay more [for] […] it than I do — and where it has at its core this sort of anonymity that allows you to
avoid taxation or any sort of government rules about kidnapping fees or things […] Having an asset class that is 100 percent based on the greater fool theory, which states that somebody is going to pay more [for] […] it than I do — and where it has at its That does not affect me in any way. I don’t have a long or small stature; I don’t have any of those characteristics.”
When it comes to the world of finance, the phrase “greater fool theory” refers to the inflated value of assets that are dispersed between the hands of dumb willing players. These assets might be stocks, real estate, or even NFTs.
Gates Maintains Consistency on Crypto Assets despite Microsoft’s Affiliation
In December 2019, Microsoft announced its first formal affiliation with NFTs with the launch of Azure Heroes. Azure Heroes is an Ethereum-based digital collectible hosted on the Azure cloud platform. Its primary purpose is

to encourage and reward inclusive behaviors among developers. Gates was a board member at the time of the announcement.
The beaver avatars increase in the degree of a rarity as the difficulty of obtaining them does, with the learner being the most basic asset and the mentor and maker badgers being the most coveted valuables. The rarity level is decided by how difficult it is to get the avatar.

A little more than two years later, Microsoft produced “Azure Space Mystery,” a digital game developed in collaboration with Enjin and compatible with Minecraft. The game aims to educate players on notable female scientists over the course of history.
Regarding Bill Gates, he has always promoted the idea that people who invest in cryptocurrencies should do so with extreme caution and discretion always. Most recently, in February, he stated that “I do think people get drawn into these manias who may not have as much money to spare” and that “I’m not bullish on Bitcoin.”
