Key Points
- The largest recipient of Ethena Labs’ ENA token airdrop sold immediately, missing out on an extra $1 million in potential profit.
- Ethena Labs, known for its USDe token, has received support from notable industry figures and investment from Binance Labs.
Ethena Labs, a prominent crypto project, recently launched the ENA token via a $450 million airdrop.
Data from Arkham Intelligence revealed that the largest recipient of this airdrop received 3.30 million ENA tokens.
At the time, these tokens were valued at approximately $1.96 million. This recipient, however, decided to transfer their tokens to the Bybit crypto exchange for immediate profit, just 15 minutes after receiving them.
Missed Opportunity
This decision proved to be premature, as the value of ENA tokens increased significantly in the hours following the airdrop.
Approximately 11 hours later, ENA reached an all-time high of $0.8987, bringing the total market cap to $1.27 billion.
Had the recipient held onto their tokens, they would have been worth $2.96 million at this peak – an additional profit of $1 million.
The ENA token has continued to perform well, with a 40% increase in value over the past 24 hours.
Despite a slight dip from its all-time high, it’s currently trading at $0.84 and holds a market cap of $1.18 billion, making it the 84th-largest cryptocurrency.
Industry Support for Ethena Labs
Ethena Labs is not just known for the ENA token. They’ve also developed the synthetic USD token, USDe, and have received public backing from several high-profile industry figures, including former BitMEX CEO Arthur Hayes.
Furthermore, on February 15, Binance Labs announced its investment in Ethena Labs, along with two other projects, as part of its incubator program.
