NEO and GAS
Neo is an open-source platform that has ambitions to become the foundation for the next generation of the internet. It aims to create an economy to bring together digitized payments, identities and assets. It was first known as Antshares and is believed to be China’s first-ever public blockchain. It was launched in February 2014 and then rebranded as Neo three years later.
The Neo team encourages people to build decentralized apps and smart contracts on its blockchain. Some people describe it as the Chinese version of the Ethereum network. The platform distinguishes itself by being in constant development with the aim of being future-proof. Neo has two native tokens; NEO and GAS. NEO is an investment token, and GAS is the token that is used to pay for completed transactions on the network. Neo has an extensive development fund called EcoBoost (launched in 2019) that provides grants, social media promotion, and technical support for projects with high potential.
The r/NEO GasBot – Send And Receive Tips In Neo (N3) GAS
This GasBot enables r/NEO users to send and receive tips in GAS easily. When a user receives a tip, a wallet tied to your Reddit account is automatically created. It is possible to create your own wallet, fill it with GAS and use it to tip other users. GasBot does not currently respond to private messages but this functionality may be added shortly.
The r/NEO GasBot is one of NNT’s efforts to give back to the community and tip users who help others. As a Neo Council member, NNT wants to help grow the ecosystem. A helpful user could be someone helpful to another Reddit user or posts a new tutorial, a new tool, a new website or a dApp MVP. Through this effort, NNT hopes to encourage and support a community that is helpful to each other.
The bot can be summoned and used with the following commands with the format !command in any comment on r/NEO:
- create – Creates a GasBot account for the user
- balance – This command checks your current GasBot balance and if there isn’t an existing account, a new one is created for you
- tip <amount> – This command tips the user you replied to from your tipbot balance. Fees are subtracted from the amount you send, so it is important to send more than the minimum fee
- withdraw <address> – This withdraws your full GasBot balance to the specified Neo N3 address
- deposit – This displays your GasBot address to send GAS to top up your available balance. So you can tip users without waiting to receive a tip first
- help – This posts a helpful prompt with the latest information
It is not recommended to store large amounts of GAS in your GasBot wallet.
NGD Enterprise Unveils NeoTrace Tool
NGD Enterprise has added a new command-line developer tool Called NeoTrace to the Neo Blockchain Toolkit by NGD Enterprise. NeoTrace is a tool that helps troubleshoot bugs in the smart contracts that have already been deployed on the MainNet despite testing before deployment. It helps capture individual transactions or blocks from the Neo N3 MainNet or TestNet and then store traces of the executions for debugging.
Neo Live Features Rentfuse
Neo Live will be hosting Rentfuse on the official Neo Telegram channel, beginning at 3:00 p.m. (UTC) on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021. Rentfuse founder, Michael Fabozzi, will tell us more about building the innovative protocol on Neo N3. It is also announced that the Neo Live participants will be eligible to earn rewards from a pool of 10 Neoverse Blind Box NFTs.
NEO And GAS – A Bumpy Ride
This month has seen the aftermath of China’s decision to ban trading on cryptocurrencies. The last month saw a very rough ride for many altcoins. NEO was no different. It was up 28% then ended down 25% on the month. NEO has picked itself up from similar falls earlier.
NEO has seen a fall of 2.39% to $42.47, with a trading volume of $237,494,674.84 in the last 24 hours. It has a circulating supply of 70,538,831 NEO against a maximum supply of 100,000,000 NEO.
NEO’s biggest advantage is its smart economy model of digital assets, digital identities, and smart contracts. Another advantage of the Neo platform is its pairing with GAS. So, NEO holders receive GAS as a dividend.
Today GAS is at $8.51 USD, which is down 2.45% in the last 24 hours. It has had a 24-hour trading volume of $8,287,197 USD. It is ranked at #443, with a circulating supply of 10,128,375 GAS coins against a maximum supply of 100,000,000 GAS coins. As GAS increases in value, the attractiveness of holding NEO will also increase.
