About Nano
Nano is a lightweight cryptocurrency that is touted as “digital money for the contemporary world.” It allows safe and almost instant transfers without fees and solves some of the key weaknesses of traditional financial infrastructure and many current cryptos.
As of 2014, RaiBlocks was known as RaiBlocks, and XRB was the currency users could receive through a public faucet to solve captchas. Users could complete as many captchas as they wanted to boost their word count — basically exchanging their time and effort for XRB.
In January 2018, RaiBlocks (XRB) was renamed Nano (NANO), with the new name selected to reflect the project’s speed and simplicity better. It is a peer-to-peer platform that uses a proprietary block-lattice data structure to enable users to transfer value without relying on centralized intermediaries quickly.
Unlike other platforms, Nano employs Open Representative Voting (ORV) to reach consensus. Account-holders vote for their favorite representative, who then works to confirm blocks of transactions securely. ORV significantly reduces the energy consumption of Nano, establishing it as a more environmentally friendly alternative to proof-of-work (POW) based cryptocurrencies.
Nano’s Latest Godot Engine Plugin
Nano has announced the release of its payment plugin to facilitate in-game purchases and payments using the NANO coin. After working on the project on GitHub for three months, the cryptocurrency finally announced its completion through its Twitter account.

The plugin is targeted at game developers building on the Godot engine, and it aims to simplify remote procedure calls and WebSocket requests to a remote Nano node. It also comes with convenience classes and functions that enable users to send and receive Nano, track confirmations, and automatically receive amounts sent to tracked accounts.
With the new plugin launch, Nano takes a step further towards providing faster and costless digital payments to its users. The plugin is currently available on GitHub for Godot game developers, along with a detailed guide on how to integrate it into their platforms.
Nano’s Market Value And Uniqueness
As is the case with the overwhelming majority of cryptocurrencies, Nano has a hard cap on the total amount of tokens that can ever exist; this cap is set at precisely 133,248,298 NANO.
Although the initial maximum supply was substantially larger, any leftover NANO tokens beyond the current 133 million cap were permanently burned. Around 39% of the initial genesis supply was shared. Nano is unique because its whole supply has already been distributed, implying that it is completely diluted.
Nano is also highly decentralized and widely dispersed due to its complete dilution, with the great majority of Nano accounts owning less than 100 NANO. As of December 2020, around 20% of the Nano in circulation (26 million) is kept in one of the Binance cold wallets. A total of 5% of the circulating supply was reserved for the project’s continuing development; this was earmarked for a so-called “developer fund.”
Nano is now trading at $5.69, with a 24-hour trading volume of $31,081,596.84, with a live market cap of 757M $, Nano is now ranked #115 on CoinMarketCap with 133,248,297 NANO coins in circulation.
