U.S. law enforcement has taken Robert Robb, an MEV engineer popularly known in the crypto sphere as “pokerbrat,” into custody, as per records from the Henderson Police authority.
The cause of the arrest, which occurred on March 20, is still undisclosed. However, ZachXBT, a well-known on-chain investigator, suggests that the arrest might be connected to a previous rug pull that Robb is suspected to have planned.
Alleged Fraudulent Activities
The story started in December 2023 when ZachXBT brought attention to Robb’s alleged fraudulent actions. As per his report, Robb devised a complex scheme, defrauding more than $1.2 million from eleven unsuspecting individuals.
These victims had invested in various Miner Extractable Value (MEV) bots that Robb claimed would soon be functional. However, instead of fulfilling his promises, ZachXBT alleges that Robb disappeared with the investors’ money.
The reasons for the delays varied from COVID-related setbacks to health problems, exchange errors, and even alleged blackmail. Meanwhile, the aggrieved investors explored multiple channels to retrieve their funds, with some collaborating with ZachXBT to seek justice.
Robb’s Checkered Past
Interestingly, the investigator revealed in December 2023 that Robb had a questionable past. In 2002, he confessed to a $4 million scam, swindling investors and using the ill-gotten money for luxuries. Furthermore, in 2007, he was sentenced to three years for fraud after stealing from over ten victims in Colorado.
Following ZachXBT’s revelation in December 2023, Robb threatened to take legal action against him, stating that he still intends to launch the MEV project. The recent arrest comes three months after the alleged $1.2 million rug pull case was exposed.
The crypto community is now waiting for the release of court documents to provide more details on Robb’s arrest. While the exact charges are yet to be revealed, the evidence strongly suggests the alleged rug pull.
