Doge vs. the Doge Killer

Crypto enthusiasts all over the world must have had this comparison playing out in their heads.  Doge and Shiba Inu have been recently making waves in the crypto space, and this is due to none other than one of the greatest influencers of the Market, Elon Musk.

Elon Musk recently tweeted on his Twitter page, which sent Shiba Inu’s price to the moon. Shiba Inu has been doing great ever since.

In this article, we will be pitching Doge against Shiba Inu in a fight to the finish. Let’s see who eventually wins this contest! The basis for comparison would be Market Capitalization, Gains since January 2021, Total number of coins in circulation, and Major influencers of both Meme tokens.

Before going fully into the comparison, I am sure you would want to know a little about Doge and Shiba Inu.

Shiba Inu (SHIB) was first used as an entertainment currency but has evolved into a fully decentralized ecosystem. A total of 50% of the supply was allotted to Vitalik Buterin’s ethereum wallet during the first few hours of the coin’s existence. During eight months, the price of SHIB has risen from a low of $0.000000000056 to an all-time high of $0.000041, representing a 140,000-fold gain.

On the other hand, Dogecoin was created by Billy Markus from Portland, Oregon, and Jackson Palmer from Sydney, Australia. Both wanted to create a cryptocurrency that was entertaining and would appeal to people outside of the Bitcoin community. When it comes to social media, Dogecoin is most commonly utilized as a tipping system on Reddit and Twitter, where users reward one another for creating or sharing outstanding content. The community is quite active in the organization of fundraising activities for deserving charitable organizations.

Round 1 : Market Cap

Shiba Inu : 30B $

Doge Coin : 31B $

There is a maximum supply of 1 quadrillion SHIB, and the ecosystem is still in the early stages of development.

It would interest you to know that Shiba Inu recently flipped Doge, but Doge is currently ranked above Shiba Inu at the time of writing this. I would give this battle to Dogecoin (knowing that Shiba Inu could still flip Dogecoin at any point in time).

Winner  : Tie (neck to neck)

Round 2 : Return on Investment 2021

Dogecoin opened for trading on Jan. 1 at 0.0048 USD.  It is currently trading at about 0.240548 USD. Dogecoin has a gain of about a whopping 5000%. You can almost imagine your net worth if you had invested $1000.

According to the Coin Market Cap, the earliest data for the price of Shiba Inu dates back to Jan. 31, 2021.  On Jan. 31, the Shiba Inu coin traded at $0.00000008. It currently trades at 0.0000796. Shiba Inu has made gains of 99500%.

If you invested $1,000 into #SHIB at the start of 2021, your investment would now be worth $1,250,000,000 USD.

This battle goes to Shiba Inu (clearly, the meme token has been on steroids).

Winner : Shiba Inu

Round 3 : Celebrity Support

This will be the tiebreaker for both meme tokens, as they won each of the previous rounds.

The top celebrities that support Dogecoin are Elon Musk, Snoop Dogg, and Genn Simmons. Other influencers support the meme token, but these are the ones that have been very vocal about it.

Shiba Inu seems to be the Crypto community’s favorite as everyone is touting that it’d be listed on Robinhood. This could even make Shiba Inu achieve heights thought unattainable. Notable celebrities that support the coin are Meek Mill, Andre Barto, and Elon Musk. I would award this battle to Shiba Inu (judging from how the coin has been pumping. This pump shows some major backings by the Crypto community)

Verdict

Currently, Shiba is making crazy moves in the Crypto community, and if it continues like this, it might make it to the top five, leaving Doge way behind. Shiba Inu is currently expanding its use cases. It was recently reported that it launched an NFT called Shiboshis, which sold out 30 minutes after launch. This gives an insight into the potentials of Shiba Inu.

Did we conclude on who won this battle?  Of course, Shiba Inu did. But would it be for long?
