Dimon’s Change of Heart
Dimon’s recent statements mark his second public discussion about Bitcoin this year.
Earlier in the year, he had announced that he was done discussing cryptocurrencies.
However, his latest comments seem to contradict his previous statement in December 2023, where he expressed a desire to shut down cryptocurrencies if he represented the American people.
Bitcoin and Illegal Activities
His statements were made in response to concerns about the use of cryptocurrencies in illicit activities such as fraud and terrorism.
However, as clarified by Chainalysis, less than 1% of crypto transactions are actually tied to illegal activities.
At the time of reporting, Bitcoin is trading at $72,110, marking a year-to-date increase of over 70%.
