Cryptocurrencies Tumble
This downturn could be a ripple effect from the traditional market, where the Japanese yen recently hit a 34-year low against the U.S. dollar. Major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC), Solana (SOL), and Dogecoin (DOGE) have all experienced price drops in the past 24 hours.
Bitcoin, according to CoinMarketCap data, is currently priced at $63,284, representing a 2.32% decrease from 24 hours ago. The trading volume of Bitcoin during this period was $22.89 billion, the second highest in the last 24 hours.
Performance Over Time
Despite Bitcoin’s price being 118% higher than it was a year ago, it has seen decreases over other time frames. The current price signifies a 10% dip over 30 days, a 6.7% drop across a fortnight, and a 1.3% loss in the last seven days.
Solana, the fifth largest cryptocurrency by market cap, has seen its price drop by over 4% in 24 hours. The coin is currently valued at $137.21 with a 24-hour trading volume just over $2.4 billion. The current price is a 25.6% drop from 30 days ago, an 8% dip across 14 days, and a 2.6% loss over 7 days.
Ethereum and Meme Coins
Ethereum (ETH) seems to have resisted the general negative trend, albeit modestly. It is currently trading at about $3,137, a 0.23% increase over the last day. However, Ethereum has lost more than 12% of its value over the past month.
Dogecoin, the largest meme token, lost nearly 3% of its value in the last 24 hours and is now trading at about $0.1451. This represents a drop of over 30% from its level a month ago. Other meme coins, including Pepe (PEPE), Dogwifhat (WIF), and Shiba Inu (SHIB), have also recorded losses, ranging between 2.82% and 7.87%.
