In a significant advancement for blockchain interoperability, Brave Browser has announced the integration of the Cardano blockchain into its native and standalone wallets. This development, revealed on May 12, is the result of a collaboration between Brave and Input Output, the firm behind Cardano’s development.
Brendan Eich, co-founder and CEO of Brave, emphasized that this integration not only broadens multi-chain access but also enhances security and governance participation for users. “Integrating Cardano into Brave Wallet maximizes user choice while providing tools to engage with decentralized ecosystems,” Eich stated. With this upgrade, users can seamlessly access and manage Cardano tokens directly through the Brave interface.
Robert Roose, founder of the Cardano interoperability protocol Mynth, praised the integration as a pivotal moment for the Cardano ecosystem, calling it “a huge step” toward increased accessibility and interoperability. He noted that decentralized applications (DApps) on Cardano would now be “within easy reach” through the Brave Browser, highlighting the groundwork already laid for this transition.
Brave’s commitment to expanding its blockchain support is evident, as the browser previously integrated Ethereum and Solana. The announcement also indicates potential future innovations, particularly around Cardano’s governance and the Midnight blockchain, which focuses on confidential smart contracts and data protection.
