Key Points
- Bitcoin ETFs are expected to be introduced to mainstream advisory services by the end of the year.
- Options trading based on Bitcoin ETFs is projected to start by September.
Eric Balchunas of Bloomberg has expressed his anticipation for two significant developments that will expand access to Bitcoin ETFs before the year ends.
Expanding Access to Bitcoin ETFs
The first of these developments is the introduction of Bitcoin ETFs to mainstream advisory services. These services, which are yet to adopt Bitcoin ETFs, are supervised by leading wirehouse platforms that manage assets worth between $7 trillion and $10 trillion.
Balchunas foresees the integration of these ETFs into such platforms in the coming months. He compares this expansion to increasing product visibility in major retail environments, which, in his opinion, will encourage their adoption.
Options Trading and Derivative Products
The second development Balchunas highlighted is the introduction of options trading based on Bitcoin ETFs, which he predicts will begin by September.
Moreover, Balchunas expects the development of derivative products and strategies related to Bitcoin ETFs. These include structured products akin to those built around Ark Invest, as well as leveraged ETFs and investment strategies that combine Bitcoin (BTC) with other assets.
According to Balchunas, these innovations will contribute to the growth and diversification of the Bitcoin ETF ecosystem, thereby enhancing its appeal and utility for investors.
