Key Points

  • Bitcoin’s price has surged past $60,000 following the recent U.S. labor market report.
  • Bitcoin whales reportedly accumulated 47,000 BTC in anticipation of the Federal Reserve’s report.

The value of Bitcoin has seen a significant increase, surpassing the $60,000 mark. This surge follows the release of the U.S. labor market report.

Bitcoin’s Price Surge

The upturn in Bitcoin’s value took place soon after the U.S. jobs report was published. This report altered expectations regarding the Federal Reserve’s key rate cut, shifting it from November to September.

Following the release of these statistics, Bitcoin’s value rose more than 4%. It continues to trend upwards, heading towards $62,000, as per data from CoinMarketCap.

Ki Young Ju, the CEO of CryptoQuant, revealed that Bitcoin whales had accumulated 47,000 BTC in anticipation of the Federal Reserve’s report. This macroeconomic data has led to a revision in the projected path of the Federal Reserve’s key rate in 2024.

Market Response and Future Predictions

Instead of a single cut, the market is now considering two cuts of 0.25% each. The first of these cuts is expected to take place in September, as opposed to November.

According to Bloomberg analysts, the key report for investors will now be the consumer price dynamics report, due on May 15. The labor market remains robust overall, and more evidence of a slowdown or a sharp drop in employment would be required to cause concern.

Following the release of the U.S. labor market report, there was an increase in risk appetite in global markets. The S&P 500 stock index opened up 1.2%, and the cryptocurrency index of fear and greed rose by five points on the day.

Recently, Bitcoin’s price dipped below the $60,000 mark. However, this dip was followed by a surge in discussions around the hashtag #buythedip and mentions of BTC. According to analysts, this indicates a renewed polarization among traders, with some viewing it as a buying opportunity and others remaining cautious.
