- He claims that his compliance department recommended him to “limit his exposure” to Bitcoin, even though O’Leary had never considered himself a skeptic in the first place.
He Made This Known On Reddit
According to the site, Kevin O’Leary, a Shark Tank star, said on Reddit’s r/CryptoCurrencyTalk on Thursday that cryptocurrencies now account for 10 percent of his whole investment portfolio.
“Starting the year with a 3 percent weighting, I set a goal of increasing it to a 7 percent weighted by the conclusion of the calendar year. However, due to the appreciation of huge number of my current assets, we’ve almost reached the ten percent mark in recent months. Some believe that Ethereum is the be-all and end-all answer, but I do not believe this. Solana is not the only option available; there are other others as well. When it comes to investing, diversification is essential. That is important.”
At First, He Labeled Bitcoin As Crap
Several years after labeling Bitcoin (BTC) as “crap” in an appearance with CNBC, O’Leary has revised his views on cryptocurrency. To a query regarding his recent change of heart concerning cryptocurrencies, Kevin responded with the following reply in answer to the inquiry: “I’ll never be able to shake the feeling that I made a mistake by going on CNBC and denigrating [Bitcoin]. Consequently, please allow me to elaborate on my present point of view.”
“In 2017, I made my very first Bitcoin purchase. They were opposed to cryptocurrencies, tokens, and other digital vehicles that may generate income when they first started. At the time, a token was being considered for use in tokenizing a New York hotel, which was being considered at the time. I am confident in expressing that since we employ their products and services, and they all comply with the law. However, because they did not want me to become a lightning rod, my compliance departments applied significant pressure on me to give up cryptography.”
Undying Support For Crypto
When O’Leary was representing the FTX in August, he commended Ethereum (ETH) as a potential deflationary asset, and he has subsequently come out in support of cryptocurrencies in general. As of the end of last month, the Shark Tank star’s portfolio had more cryptocurrency than physical gold.
